I HAVE REPLACED EVEN MORE NOW THAN WHEN AT THE DEALER DUE TO CUSTOMERS OUT OF WARRANTY AND TOO NICE OF A VEHICLE TO JUNK. KEEP IN MIND THIS MOTOR HAS THREE CHAINS, THREE OIL FED CHAIN ADJUSTERS THAT ONCE LOW ON PRESSURE CAN AND WILL JUMP. AFTER WARRAANTY WORK ON THESE CHAINS WE HAD TO REPROGRAM TO COMPUTER TO QUICKEN THE OIL CHANGE INTERVALS. WHAT I BELIEVE IS HAPPENING IS THE MAINTENANCE COMPUTER IS CALCULATING TOO SLOWLY THAT THE MOTOR RUNS LOW ON OIL THEN PRESSURE. AND I WOULD SAY THE YOU ARE WRONG rbarrios THAT THIS MOTOR IS JUST AS PRONE TO CHAIN JUMPING AS THE 3.6 AND ALL YEARS. I ORIGINALLY SUSPECTED THE TIMING CHAINS BUT SOUGHT OUT ADVICE FROM HERE DUE MAINLY TO THE FACT THAT THIS MOTOR ONLY HAS 51K ON IT. PREVIOUS SHOP STATED THE THE FASER WAS BAD BUT I DISAGREED DO TO THE FACT THAT THE TIMING COULD BE COMMANDED MANUALLY. I MOVED AROUND THE SOLENOIDS AND CAM SENSORS IN HOPES THAT THIS WAS THE PROBLEM BUT THE CODE WOULD SET ALMOST IMMEDIATELY. THIS CODE WOULD RESET AFTER ONLY MOMENTS OF IDLING. I TOO HAVE A 2010 EQUINOX 3.0 WITH P0017. I AM A MASTER CERTIFIED AUTO MECHANIC AND USED TO WORK AT A GM DEALER YEARS AGO WHEN THESE THINGS CAME OUT AND ONE OF THE FIRST TO HAVE THE DISPLEASURE OF DIAGNOSING THESE MOTORS.
